What is Lent?
Lent is a season of 40 days (which does not include Sundays) that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter). The season of Lent is a season of preparation in getting ready to celebrate the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday. The ‘preparation’ has to do with our ‘inner self’ as we spend time during Lent doing self-examination that leads us towards repentance. It is also a period of time where we make a deeper commitment to participate in some spiritual disciplines, such as reading and meditating on God’s Word.
Through this season of Lent, we will be preaching into who or what Jesus is______. Jesus is bold; Jesus is more than meets the eye; Jesus is life; and Jesus is king. Looking at some of Jesus’ characteristics can help us understand how God wants us to live, think and act. Each Sunday during Lent, we will preach into Jesus is ______ and culminate with the celebration of the Risen Christ as we celebrate knowing Jesus is Alive. We hope this series helps you along on your Lenten journey.
Also during Lent, we invite you to participate in the following:
