Small Groups for Growing in Your Faith

Faith UMC is committed to providing opportunities throughout the week and the year for all of our community to engage. Below are opportunities to open hearts and minds in seeking deeper understanding of ourselves in relation to Christ and the world.

  • Faith and Photography

    3rd Mondays at 6:30 pm

Faith & Photography is a fellowship of artisan observers seeking to use our craft to be intentional about seeking images of God, images of Kingdom and images that call us to both. We invite you to join us on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 pm for fellowship, an opportunity to learn and to be of service to our community.

Faith & Photography would love to take photos for your next event. Please feel free to contact them if you would like for them to save the memories of your events. For more information, contact Linda Stroud.

  • Small Group Bible Study

    Sundays at 9:15 a.m.

Please visit pages for Children and Youth for programming and opportunities specific to their needs.

    Faith Matters Group

Faith Matters is an adult community group that meets each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. in room 104. We have a leader/discussion format as we seek to apply the teachings of the Bible to our everyday lives. Rosie Johnsen is our leader, but all group members are encouraged to bring information they have discovered regarding the scripture which greatly enhances our discussions.

We strive to develop a “family atmosphere” in our group where we keep up to date on what is going on in our lives and support one another as well as rejoice with one another as we grow in our faith journey. Come be a part of our Faith Matters family.

OASIS is a senior-focused ministry for men and women who are in their “golden years” of 65-ish and older. "Reflections on the Lectionary Readings" meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00. No preparation needed. Feel free to bring your Bibles, or we will have handouts available in class that have the scripture reading for next Sunday.

Faith Fusion

Faith Fusion is devoted to bringing people, all people, together to serve God, fellowship with one another and make a difference collectively.

It’s important to build relationships with those with whom we join in worship each week. Sometimes this can be difficult, and it may be hard to break the ice and get involved. Faith Fusion can help you do this.

Throughout the year, we offer fun events and activities that make it easy for you to get connected. Whether you are single, married, have a family, are new to Faith or a seasoned attendee, there is something for everyone.

Stay tuned for more information about the exciting things Faith Fusion is doing. If you would like to connect or serve with us, whether on a one-time or ongoing basis, just let us know! Contact Diane Scott.

Pslam and Proverbs Study

Third Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

OASIS will sponsor a study of the Psalms and Proverbs for 6 months, meeting on the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am (immediately after the “Reflections on the Lectionary Readings”).

The study is open to everyone at Faith, as well as your friends and neighbors.

Written by Rev. Dr. Lee Ligon-Borden, an Anglican priest who attends Faith UMC and facilitates the Lectionary Readings discussion, the study book is published by Ekklesia Publications and available in the church office (as long as supplies last) or on Amazon. It is designed to introduce people to the practical use of the Psalms and Proverbs for personal reflection and prayers. It has six topics, each of which has explanations for the passages selected, questions to answer, Scriptures to memorize, and an opportunity compose a prayer for group or personal use. This is a great way to get to know more people, discuss Scripture as it relates to personal situations, and grow in the knowledge of Christ. For more information, please contact Rev. Lee at 713-385-6701 or We hope to see you there!

Messianic Foreshadowing in the Old Testament

First Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

The study is open to everyone- bring a friend!

OASIS will sponsor a study of Old Testament Scriptures that predict the coming of Christ, his suffering, and his resurrection. It will be for 6 months, meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 11:00 am (immediately after the “Reflections on the Lectionary Readings”).

We will also look at some of the typology of the Old Testament, including the tabernacle that the Lord had Moses build in the wilderness, which provides an exacting message of the Gospel of salvation.

It will be primarily didactic and led by Rev. Dr. Lee Ligon-Borden, an Anglican priest who attends Faith UMC, and Gordon T. Borden, M.Ed., M.A.R., a postulate for Holy Orders. They both facilitate the Lectionary Readings discussion at Faith. No previous study is needed, and no homework is required. This is a great way to get to know more people and learn about how the Old Testament points to Jesus Christ. For more information, please contact Rev. Lee at 713-385-6701 or or Gordon Borden at We hope to see you there!
